Vatenfall has submitted its Storlandet wind power project for the approval of Swedish authorities. The 2.9GW onshore wind farm is designed to generate approximately 9TWh of electricity per year.
To be built in Gällivare, Storlandet is planned to help meet growing power demand from the local mining and steel industries.
According to Vatenfall, the site will comprise of 373 turbines. Once operational, which the developer expects to happen by 2030, Storlandet should be one of Europe's largest wind power plants.
