The respective governments of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have made public a new discovery in the Partitioned Zone. The statement says that oil was found in North Wafra (Wara-Burgan), five kilometres north of the Wafra field.
Crude oil from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well has been successfully tested, producing at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day with an API gravity of 26 to 27 degrees.
According to both countries, this is the first discovery made in the region since 2020.
