Commercial operations have begun at Northland Power's Oneida energy storage project. The 250MW/1,000MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility was built in Ontario, Canada.
According to the developer, Oneida is the largest energy storage facility currently operational in Canada. It is also the first project of its kind from Northland Power in the country.
Northland Power has also announced that Oneida was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, reaching a total investment of nearly CAN$700m (less than the CAN$800 initially expected in 2023).
