Fluence has joined the Neilson battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The company will support Statkraft in delivering the 50MW facility that will be connected to the national grid.
The Neilson BESS project will be located at the Neilston Grenner Grid Park. Once up and running, unlike most initiatives of its kind in the UK, the plant will provide inertia and short-circuit power to the transmission system, assuring stability.
According to Statkraft, civil works on the project have already began.
