The United States Department of the Interior (DOI) has approved the Revolution Wind offshore wind project near Point Judith, Rhode Island. Once up and running, the facility, which is expected to have 704MW of capacity, should be able to power almost 250,000 homes.
The development of Revolution Wind farm will create approximately 1,200 job posts.
The granted approval is part of the Biden Administration's efforts to push offshore wind generation in the US. The government intends to have 30GW of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030.
