Atlantic Shores, a joint venture formed by Shell and EDF Renewables, has submitted a bid for an offshore wind project in the United States to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
The joint venture is already responsible for the development of three lease areas in New Jersey. Two are located 10 to 20 miles off the coast between Atlantic City and Barnegat Light, and the third one is situated within the New York Bight area in the Atlantic Ocean.
If chosen, the bid would support New Jersey's goal of having an offshore wind generation capacity of 11GW by 2040. The submission required four years of economic, environmental, and social planning by Atlantic Shores.
