Appointment of first Saudi-based membership manager demonstrates EIC's commitment to the region and signals continued support of the energy supply chain.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 17 April 2023 - The Energy Industries Council (EIC), the leading global energy trade association, has announced the launch of its operations in Saudi Arabia with the appointment of a Saudi-based membership manager. The expansion reflects EIC's commitment to the region and the high level of activity seen in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to the appointment of Yousef Albayyat, who is based in Al Khobar, Damman in the Eastern Province, the EIC served its Saudi-based members from its regional headquarters in Dubai.
Ryan McPherson, Director of the Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS at the EIC, said, "The appointment of a membership manager based in Saudi Arabia highlights our commitment to supporting the energy industries supply chain businesses in the Middle East. Our focus is to provide our members with the support they need to win business and grow their operations. By expanding our presence in Saudi Arabia, we are better positioned to serve our existing members and to grow our membership in the region."
EIC's expansion into Saudi Arabia will enable the organization to be closer to its existing members while expanding its membership base. The appointment will lead to an increase in the number of events held in Saudi Arabia, supporting energy supply chain businesses in the oil and gas, renewables, and other sectors, according to Mr McPherson.
EIC has been active in the Middle East region for decades and opened its first office in Dubai in 2004.
As some governments, including the UK, reduce support for the oil and gas industry, EIC's work in the region is particularly important, said Mr McPherson, adding that the oil and gas industry plays a vital role in energy security and the economy, and EIC remains committed to supporting this critical sector.
While Saudi Arabia continues to serve as a key pillar of global energy security, it is also making strides in the green energy sector. Through its Saudi Green Initiative, the kingdom has set ambitious goals to achieve net zero emissions by 2060, reduce carbon emissions, increase renewable energy capacity, and become a leading producer of clean hydrogen. “Together, these present regional and global energy supply chain companies with ample business opportunities in the kingdom,” according to Mr McPherson.
Meanwhile, Aramco, the world’s largest oil exporter, has confirmed its participation in the Energy Exports Conference (EEC), the EIC’s flagship event which will be held at the P&J Live in Aberdeen on June 6th and 7th.
