Terra Solar has sold the Garrenleen solar project to Ørsted. The 160MW plant in Ireland is now Ørsted’s second solar farm in the country and one of Ireland’s largest, being able to meet the energy demands of nearly 56,000 homes every year.
The project, about 15km away from Carlow, will be delivered in phases. Phase 1 will cover the first 81MW and has start-up scheduled to 2025, while phase 2 will install the remaining 79MW by 2026.
A final investment decision (FID) by Ørsted on the project is still pending to confirm further development.
