TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Group’s floating wind farm in Wales granted approval

The Welsh government has granted consent for the development of the Erebus floating wind farm project on the Celtic Sea. This makes Blue Gem Wind’s 96MW initiative the country’s first approved floating wind farm.

Blue Gem Wind is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Group. A marine license for Erebus had recently been secured by them.

The offshore wind farm will be located approximately 40km off the coast of Pembrokeshire. It will feature seven turbines, each with a capacity of 14MW.

Start-up of the facility is expected in 2026.
