A letter of intent has been signed by Petrobras and Equinor regarding the assessment of seven offshore wind projects in Brazil. According to the document, the companies will work together on the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility studies of the seven facilities.
Total capacity estimated for the seven plants combined is 14.5GW.
The letter expands an agreement firmed between Petrobras and Equinor in 2018. This previous document only considered development plans for the Aracatu I and II projects, to be built between the Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo states.
Now, the developers will install plants in Piauí (Mangara project), Ceará (Ibitucatu), Rio Grande do Norte (Colibri), and Rio Grande do Sul (Atobá and Ibituassu). Operations are expected to begin by 2028.
