Enel Green Power has stated the beginning of operations at its Campos del Sol solar park in the region of Atacama, northern Chile. The 375MW power plant has recently passed the National Electricity Coordinator’s (CNE’s) safety tests.
The project consisted of the installation of nearly one million bifacial monocrystalline photovoltaic (PV) modules. Annual production, to be directed to the country’s national grid, is calculated at 1,2000GWh, avoiding almost 947,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The now operational plant is the first phase of a larger 733MW PV complex.
