AsstrA's sustainability strategy for 2030 has four pillars: reducing emissions, improving efficiency of business, social development and corporate responsibility.
“AsstrA’s goal is to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030, compared to a 2021 baseline. To do so the following tasks have been outlined: prioritising intermodal shifts, biofuels and electrification. This includes implementing an advanced data-driven management system that will allow for real-time monitoring and execution of logistics operations. Rail and sea transport produce the lowest emissions per kilometer and unit shipped; by 2024 we want these two modes to account for 10% and 25% of our turnover, respectively,” said Anna Smirnova, Head of IPL AsstrA UK.
“To successfully go green, logistics companies have to address several challenges. First, the company needs to find ways to reduce its environmental impact without compromising its bottom line. Second, the company needs to educate its employees on the importance of green practices. Then there is a need to measure progress,” added Dmitri Krõlov, Manager for Sustainable Development at AsstrA.
“To achieve our goals, we make sure our people are well informed and trained up to make sustainable choices. As for now, we are reducing empty vehicle mileage wherever possible and choosing routes that minimise CO2 emissions. Our transport suppliers have only around 11% empty mileage, which is less than the EU average.”
