Genera, a subsidiary of New Fortress Energy (NFE), has acquired an operation and maintenance services contract from the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA). The contract will be valid through 10 years.
The deal establishes that Genera will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, decommission, and upgrade of PREPA’s 1,600MW system of thermal power generation.
The contractor will also handle the management of budget, fuel contracts and federal funds.
Genera was chosen by P3A, Puerto Rico’s agency for public-private partnerships, in conclusion of a selecting process initiated in May 2020.
