GASCADE and Fluxys have submitted its AquaDuctus project to the European Commission requesting status of project of common interest (PCI). The initiative seeks to construct an offshore green hydrogen pipeline in the North Sea.
The AquaDuctus pipeline will transport green hydrogen from various production sites in Europe to Germany.
One of the first facilities expected to have a link with AquaDuctus is the SEN-1 hydrogen wind farm, whose start-up is settled for 2030. By 2035, the pipeline would be able to import up to one million tonnes of hydrogen per annum (Mtpa).
Once finished, the pipeline will have a length of over 400km.
