Civil works have begun for Enel Green Power’s 105.6MW wind power project in Chile. Requiring an investment of approximately US$190m, the La Cabaña wind farm will also feature an adjacent battery energy storage system (BESS) facility.
Construction is currently ongoing in Angol, a municipality in the Araucanía region, and will involve almost 450 workers.
When complete, La Cabaña will have 22 turbines, each with 4.8MW of capacity. Its BESS component, which will be formed by lithium batteries, will have a capacity of 34.3MW.
