Indian company Megha Engineering and Infrastructure (MEIL) has been granted a letter of authorisation (LOA) for the construction of Mongolia’s first greenfield oil refinery. The project is a partnership between the governments of both countries.
MEIL has stated that it will carry out engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services with the latest technologies.
The facility, which will have a processing capacity of 1.5 million barrels of crude oil per yar, will also feature an associated pipeline and power plant.
The refinery’s construction is expected to require an investment of US$790m. The Indian government is providing a line of credit as financing for the initiative.
