RWE has chosen Siemens Energy and HSM Offshore Energy for the provision of an electrical transmission system for the Thor offshore wind farm project in Denmark. The developer has already signed early works agreements for the 1GW plant with both the parties.
Siemens will be responsible for the construction of the farm’s onshore substation, while HSM will handle engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) activities related to the offshore substation and its jacket foundation.
Thor will be built approximately 22km off the coast of Thorsminde, Jutland.
Construction is schedule to start in 2023, with start-up following in 2027.
