The joint venture formed by Red Rock Power and ESB has selected Vestas as the preferred turbine supplier for the Inch Cape offshore wind project in Scotland. The 1.1GW plant will be built 15km off the Angus Coast.
Vestas will provide 72 VS36-15.0MW turbines for Inch Cape.
The agreement between the parties also includes a 15-year operations and maintenance (O&M) service.
Inch Cape’s pre-assembly site will be located at the Port of Dundee, while its O&M headquarters will be placed at the Port of Montrose.
After the plant reaches start-up, it will be the largest unit of renewable power in Scotland. Its capacity will be enough to meet the energy demands of more than 1.7 million homes.
Power output will be transported via subsea export lines at a grid connection in East Lothian.
