Entergy has completed the construction of its 100MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Sunflower County, Mississippi. The project has installed over 270,000 modules and it is understood that commissioning will follow soon.
Signal Energy has been disclosed as the project’s EPC contractor.
After start-up, the Sunflower PV plant will be able to produce enough energy to power 16,000 houses, being one of the largest plants of its kind in the state.
Sunflower will be fully owned by Recurrent Energy (a subsidiary of Canadian Solar) after the beginning of operations. In 2018, the company firmed a build transfer agreement (BTA) with Entergy Mississippi for the ownership of the facility.
This is the first major solar project developed with a BTA in the United States.
