A final investment decision (FID) on the Whistler pipeline expansion project has been taken by the MPLX-led consortium responsible for its development. WhiteWater Midstream and a joint venture between Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners and West Texas Gas are also part of the initiative.
The FID comes after transportation agreements with shipping companies were firmed by the developers.
The expansion seeks to add three new compressor stations to the pipeline, with operations expected in September 2023. After completion, the pipeline’s capacity will be increased from 2bn cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) to 2.5bn Bcf/d.
Whistler is a 42-inch natural gas pipeline that covers 723km in Texas, United States, crossing 17 different counties.
