The first stretches of HVDC export cables have been installed in Yorkshire for the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm. The plant will be developed in three phases (A, B and C), with the current works, led by NKT, being related to the first of them.
Dogger Bank A’s nearshore cable will connect the plant, 130km away from the coast, to a landfall point in Ulrome. Activities for the installation of the remaining stretches will last throughout 2022, with the same works for phases B an C coming in the next years.
Dogger Bank, with a total capacity of 3.6GW, is expected to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm following completion in 2026. It will also be the UK’s first HVDC-connected wind farm.
