The first floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit of Petrobras’ Mero oil and gas field, in the Santos Basin, has entered operations. The Guanabara FPSO has processing capacities of 80,000 barrels of oil and 12 million m³ of gas per day, as well as an oil storage capacity of 1.4 million barrels.
Built by Modec, Guanabara’s activities were initially scheduled to start in late 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the project.
Six producing wells and seven injectors have been connected to Guanabara. Peak production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The Mero field, part of the Libra block, still has other three development phases to go through. With each containing an FPSO, the field will get three new units between 2023 and 2025.
