Brazilian company Casa dos Ventos has disclosed plans to build a 220MW wind farm in the state of Alagoas, north-eastern Brazil. An investment of at least R$700m (approximately US$147m) will be required.
The developer expects the project to feature 50 wind turbines, having already started its environmental licencing process with state regulator IMA.
Being the only state in Brazil’s North-east to not yet generate wind power, the Alagoas government has stated that the initiative is a remarkable landmark for renewable energy within its territory.
