TotalEnergies and its partners have secured production sharing contracts (PSC) for the Atapu and Sépia pre-salt oil fields, offshore Brazil. The PSCs have been awarded by Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Atapu and Sépia are pre-salt oil fields in the Santos Basin, located in water depths of around 2,000m. The production of the Sépia field began this year and reached a plateau of 180,000 barrels per day (bpd) with the first floating, production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO).
Atapu started production last year and achieved a plateau of 160,000bpd with the first FPSO unit in the eastern portion of the Santos Basin pre-salt, near the Búzios field. The two oil fields are expected to approve a second FPSO unit, which will help increase the overall oil production of each field to around 350,000 barrels per day.
TotalEnergies has a 22.5% stake in the Atapu and a 28% stake in the Sépia PSC, while Shell owns a 21% stake of the first field and QatarEnergy and Petronas each own a 21% stake of the second.
Petrobras is the operator of the Atapu and Sépia fields with a 52.5% stake and a 30% stake, respectively.
