Gazprom announced that the expansion of the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok (SKV) gas trunkline in eastern Russia has entered its final stage, with construction and installation operations expected to be finished this year.
According to the Russian gas firm, 376 out of 390.8km of the linear part of the expanded pipeline section between Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Khabarovsk have been welded, laid, and backfilled thus far.
The launch of the pipeline section, according to Gazprom, will help boost gas supply and expand gas infrastructure in the Khabarovsk Territory.
Furthermore, it is expected to allow the establishment of new connections for gas consumers to transfer them from the company's non-owned Okha – Komsomolsk-on-Amur gas pipeline.
The project is part of the gas supply and infrastructure expansion taken up by Gazprom and the Khabarovsk Territory in the region between 2021 and 2025. It distributes gas generated on the Sakhalin shelf to consumers in the Khabarovsk and Primorye areas.
The gas pipeline began operations in 2011. The pipeline, which had an initial length of 1,800km, has an annual design capacity of 5.5Bcm of gas.
