In a massive expansion of its presence in Chile, Mainstream Renewable Power has announced plans for a new hybrid renewable energy platform with more than 1GW of capacity, called Nazca Renovables.
The clean energy generated by the platform will avoid the emissions of more than 1.1m tonnes of CO2 and will power more than 1.2m homes. It will consist of six projects, three wind farms, and three solar PV generation assets, divided into three portfolios.
With construction expected to begin in mid-2022, Humboldt, the first portfolio revealed, will provide 255MW of clean energy via the Tata Inti solar farm and the Entre Ríos wind farm.
The company also announced that the Humboldt portfolio intends to contribute towards a long-term bilateral private power purchase agreement (PPA) that was signed with an unnamed strategic partner.
