Chevron and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company have announced positive drilling results from the Nargis-2 appraisal well. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, the drilling campaign commenced in May using the Stena Forth drillship to evaluate the commercial potential of the original 2022 discovery.
Reaching a total depth exceeding 5,000m, the well successfully confirmed the extension of previously identified reservoirs. Furthermore, the operation discovered a new gas-bearing interval featuring up to 35m of net pay with highly favourable geological properties.
Operating the concession alongside partners Eni, Mubadala and Tharwa Petroleum Company, Chevron will now leverage these findings to conduct advanced technical studies. This subsequent evaluation phase aims to accelerate the asset's overall commercial development, ultimately boosting Egypt's domestic natural gas output.
