Australian thermal energy storage developer 1414 Degrees has issued a purchase order to 5B to deliver a 70MW prefabricated solar system. The equipment will support the initial solar photovoltaic phase of the Aurora Energy Precinct, located near Port Augusta in South Australia.
5B will manufacture the concertina-shaped Maverick arrays at its Adelaide facility. The pre-assembled units feature a compact layout, reducing on-site construction while maximising land capacity. This initial deployment will cover 42 hectares, although the broader 16km² precinct possesses an indicative generation potential of approximately 2GW.
Alongside the solar capacity, the site will incorporate an approved 140MW battery energy storage system. Once operational, the complex intends to supply firmed renewable electricity to the National Electricity Market and regional data centres.
