Neoenergia and the European Investment Bank have signed a €150m financing agreement to modernise the electricity distribution network across Brazil. Guaranteed by Spanish export credit agency Cesce, the capital will support Neoenergia Elektro’s operations throughout São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The capital investment programme will fund the comprehensive refurbishment of existing distribution lines, substations and control systems. Furthermore, the initiative focuses heavily on network automation to minimise technical losses while simultaneously enhancing overall climate resilience.
Supplying reliable power to over 3 million customers, the upgraded infrastructure will facilitate new household connections and accommodate increased renewable energy generation. This transaction follows a previous agreement between the two organisations to upgrade Bahia’s electricity grid, reinforcing a shared commitment to accelerating the Latin American energy transition.
