Equinor has selected consultancy ERM and law firm CMS to prepare the scoping report for its Celtic Sea floating offshore wind project. Located off the coast of south-west England, the development secured a seabed lease during The Crown Estate's Round 5 allocation.
ERM will deliver environmental and planning services, encompassing the Environmental Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulation Assessment for the 1.5GW wind farm and associated grid infrastructure. Meanwhile, CMS will provide strategic legal guidance to support the Development Consent Order application and secure necessary land agreements.
Generating enough renewable electricity to supply millions of homes, the project is scheduled to become operational by the mid-2030s. The upcoming scoping report will invite stakeholder feedback on proposed methodologies before proceeding through the national planning system.
