The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded a mega engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract, valued at over US$1bn, to McDermott. The agreement covers Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting project.
As a central element of ADNOC’s Umm Shaif Long Term Development Plan, this strategic investment aims to maximise gas recovery and sustain higher production rates across the offshore asset. The operator has tasked the contractor, working alongside its Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan consortium, to deliver a new surface pressure boosting facility.
The comprehensive work scope includes constructing an offshore jacket, a topside module and associated brownfield modifications. Upon deployment, the topside is anticipated to rank among the heaviest offshore structures in the Middle East. Fabrication will take place in China, while engineering management remains in the UAE.
