Speedcast has secured a multi-year agreement to implement a comprehensive all-LEO connectivity solution across the global seismic fleet of TGS. Utilising Starlink’s Dedicated Service alongside Eutelsat OneWeb, the advanced communication network is orchestrated by Speedcast’s SIGMA intelligent edge compute platform.
This technological integration enables the near real-time transmission of full-integrity seismic datasets as large as 10TB per day, maintaining sustained upload speeds of 1Gbit/s. By replacing the traditional physical transport of media to shore, TGS will significantly reduce its reliance on onboard high-performance computing infrastructure.
Consequently, geophysicists can now process information via onshore cloud networks instead of completing lengthy offshore rotations. This strategic operational overhaul centralises specialist expertise, streamlines workflows and dramatically accelerates the delivery of critical subsurface intelligence to upstream energy clients worldwide.
