The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has introduced Eagle CRoute, a digital platform tailored to enhance loading flexibility for containership operators facing increasingly complex supply chain environments.
As shifting port rotations and geopolitical disruptions pressure the shipping sector, this online tool calculates route-specific lashing reduction factors to support faster and safer stowage decisions. Depending on a vessel’s specific ABS notation, Eagle CRoute provides comprehensive assessments across entire routes or delivers granular data, including split-route and seasonal adjustments.
Furthermore, the software assesses short-voyage reduction factors for transits under 72 hours by integrating real-time weather and wave forecasts. Dr Christina Wang, Vice President of Engineering Applications at ABS, noted that operators require practical tools to adapt to changing conditions without compromising safety. By consolidating these calculations into one platform, ABS aims to unlock new loading opportunities and optimise overall fleet efficiency.
