Cable manufacturer Prysmian and wholesale operator Ufinet Brasil have partnered to deploy a 30km underground fibre optic network in Alphaville, São Paulo. The infrastructure will interconnect hyperscale data centres in one of Brazil's primary digital hubs.
The project utilises Prysmian’s SiroccoHD technology to expand network capacity in congested urban areas without requiring extensive civil works. The solution accommodates 432 optical fibres within a single 12x10mm microduct, tripling the capacity of conventional microcables.
By employing sub-ducting techniques, the system can upgrade legacy infrastructure to house up to 1,296 fibres. The development supports the rapid expansion of Brazil's digital footprint, driven by escalating demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
