Lloyd’s Register (LR) has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Wison New Energies for a new harsh-environment floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel design. Unveiled at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, the concept features an internal turret mooring system tailored for demanding metocean conditions.
Internal turret systems involve technically complex interfaces between the hull, mooring, risers and topside layouts. LR's independent concept-stage review aims to mitigate these complexities, providing stakeholders with greater technical confidence and reducing early-stage decision risks.
Following this approval, Wison New Energies noted its portfolio can now address 90% of global FPSO demand, complementing its existing standard and gas-type designs. The milestone aligns with the company's strategy to deliver robust offshore infrastructure more rapidly and reliably.
