It’s been a busy start to the year for the UK and Europe membership teams. Visiting members, attending events and providing training. Here are just some of the highlights.
Helen Doona – Senior Membership Manager
I was delighted to present Smulders with a 5-year membership in January.
It was a pleasure to meet with Stuart McMullan and Tina McKeown to present their certificate recognising their loyalty and to thank them for their continued support.
Smulders is a multidisciplinary construction company with extensive experience in engineering, producing, delivering, and assembling heavy, technically complex steel structures.
Rachel Cottiss, EIC Events Manager and myself were treated to a tour of the Smulders yard at Wallsend in Newcastle courtesy of Stuart. Thank you so much for that, it was wonderful to see the extent of a local facility with a global reach and learn more about the company’s capabilities.

Nigel O’Sullivan – Membership Manager South
I recently presented an EIC membership recognition certificate to Parker Hannafin, who I’d like to thank for their continued support for EIC. In early February I attended the Portsmouth Business Expo and met with local companies in all market sectors and some of those companies were involved in fire protection, solar, and security. The expos take place around the South including Southampton, and Winchester.
In mid-February I ran Discover EIC, hosted by member company HR Wallingford Oxon. Attended by non-member companies and members, participants received presentations from myself, Camilla Tew , International Director of Trade, Neil Golding, Director of Market Intelligence and Iain Gunn, Sector Lead of HR Wallingford. Many thanks to all who attended and presented. The event was followed by a tour of the facilities of HR Wallingford where we learnt how operators can get a model view and replicated model of sea conditions for development.
Daniel Kirmatzis – Membership Manager – London and South East
It was a pleasure to welcome Henry Rios, Group Director - Commercial, Energy & Capital Projects, LV Shipping Ltd to EIC’s offices recently for a catch up and coffee. Throughout the beginning of this year I’ve been engaging with my members and providing training. I’m looking forward to attending DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook on 5 March.
Andy Scutter – Membership Manager – North West and Wales
I attended our EIC Celtic Sea event in Cardiff, which was a great success with strong engagement from the regional supply chain. We also exhibited at the Foresight event in Liverpool, providing a valuable opportunity to hear first-hand about current UK supply chain challenges, particularly around grid connections and energy costs.
John Petchey – Scotland Membership Manager
I’ve been delivering market intelligence training and support to EIC members in person and online, and presenting the EIC offering to companies that are looking to do business outside of their local market. Other enjoyable highlights for the month included networking at Subsea Expo, Aberdeen and Scottish Renewables, Offshore Wind, Glasgow.
Sara Castiglioni – Southern European Membership Manager
What an exciting and busy beginning of 2026 it has been for CE and Italy! I visited and kept in touch with several new companies with different business focus, that became members in the last two months and looking forward to more companies joining EIC soon!
Am also deeply involved in Survive and Thrive 10 and helping to organise the first Italian events in Milan this year!
