Ørsted has agreed to sell its entire European onshore wind and solar business to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in a transaction valued at €1.44 billion (£1.25 billion). The deal, executed through CIP’s fifth flagship fund (CI V), includes a portfolio of 825 MW across Ireland, the UK, Germany, and Spain.
The assets comprise 577 MW of operational capacity and 248 MW currently under construction, alongside a multi-gigawatt development pipeline of wind, solar, and battery storage projects. This divestment completes a major phase of Ørsted’s strategic realignment, allowing the company to focus its European capital solely on offshore wind, while retaining its onshore business in the US. The acquired unit will continue to be headquartered in Cork, Ireland, under a new brand to be announced by CIP.
