Petrobas has chosen SBM Offshore to conduct a study regarding the application of carbon capture modules on floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels. It will follow a previous and successful carbon capture design by SBM Offshore and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
The compact module, to be developed as part of SBM's emissionZERO programme, will allow the reduction of carbon emissions associated with oil and gas production from Petrobras' FPSOs.
The study will consider aspects such as turbine types, machinery set up, gas flow rates, turbine power installed, carbon dioxide concentrations and gas composition.
