A new oil discovery in Norway's Barents Sea has been confirmed by Vår Energi. The Countach appraisal well, located near the Goliat field, has identified 4 to 25 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe).
Total estimated recoverable resources in the Countach discovery have now jumped to 10 to 55MMboe. This appraisal well was assessed after the field's initial discover of 3 to 13MMboe in 2023.
The Countach licence is operated by Vår Energi with a stake of 65% in the project, with the remaining 35% being owned by Equinor.
