Following the UK government's lift of the project's ban imposed nine years ago, Cubico Sustainable Investments intends to submit a new plan for Scout Moor 2 soon. The developer expects to install 21 wind turbines adjacent to an existing wind farm near Manchester.
Even though other facilities across England feature more turbines, Scout Moor 2 will be the country's largest onshore wind farm due to advanced technology that will allow it to generate over 100MW. This is enough to meet the needs of approximately 100,000 households.
If the project is completed, Scout Moor 2 will also be the United Kingdom's fifth largest onshore wind power producer.
