Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHE) has been awarded a electro-mechanical (E&M) contract related to the Dibang hydropower plant in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Dibang is part of a larger multipurpose initiative exceeding a capacity of 5GW.
The company was chosen by NHPC, India's state-owned hydro power utility, for the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, and commissioning of the electro-mechanical aspects of the 2.8GW plant.
Among other things, these will include turbines, generators, transformers, and mechanical balance of plant (BoP).
The contract, whose value is estimated at INR36.4bn (US$440m), will be valid for 86 months.
