Global energy investment is being reshaped by a world of change. From shifting alliances and supply chain pressures to evolving regulatory landscapes and industrial policy competition, geopolitics has become one of the most influential forces determining where capital flows, and where it doesn’t. In this high-level session, senior leaders from finance, industry and the supply chain will examine how geopolitical dynamics are transforming risk profiles, investment frameworks and long-term project viability.

  • Stuart Broadley, Chief Executive Officer, Energy Industries Council

  • Keiren Lake, Business Development Manager, Siemens Energy
  • Michael Stirling, CEO & Chairman of the Investment Board, Stirling Infrastructure Partners
  • Matthew Taylor, Managing Director, Green Giraffe Advisory

For energy projects to reach Final Investment Decision (FID) and move from investable to scalable, bankability must be clearly assessed, and the right financial, legal, and risk-transfer tools must be in place to mobilise capital. This session brings together perspectives from finance, insurance, legal, public finance, and asset finance to examine how investment decisions are actually made. The discussion will explore how projects are evaluated for bankability, how risk is allocated across stakeholders, and which frameworks determine whether capital is deployed.

  • Audrey Caulliez-Louis, Founder & Project Finance Trainer, CCC Training

  • Georgios Kalpias, Vice President - Global Banking & Markets, HSBC
  • Andrew New, Managing Director – Growth Portfolios, Close Brothers Asset Finance
  • Doreen Abeysundra, Founder, Fresco CleanTech Solutions

They will also share the journey from early development through to investment approval, offering valuable perspectives on what it takes to secure FID in today’s rapidly evolving energy landscape.
