The Celtic Sea - Floating into a New Energy Era
About this event
The offshore wind sector has gained huge recognition globally as an attractive market. The UK has firmly established itself as a world leader in offshore wind deployment, paving the way in operational capacity and making a significant contribution to the UK’s clean energy transition.
One major new development of note is the Celtic Sea Cluster, an area of ocean situated off the coast of Cornwall, and between Wales and Ireland. The Crown Estate has delivered a new leasing opportunity in the Celtic Sea for the first generation of commercial scale floating offshore wind farms to unlock up to 5GW of clean energy capacity by 2030. The establishment of the cluster is important to drive market creation for floating wind, accelerate supply chain readiness and develop a strategy for upgrading regional infrastructure. All this brings with it a host of benefits and significant investment opportunities for the local economy whilst also aligning with the UK’s plans to expand electrification creating an opportunity to transform the energy sector as we move to a low carbon future.
We invite you to join us as we hear more about the Celtic Sea Industrial Cluster, discuss its development plans for a sustainable long-term international industry base to deliver sustainable jobs and growth for the region, and discover the major players and partnerships that are already involved, and host of supply chain opportunities the cluster will undoubtably bring.
