About this event

Early forecasts for the upcoming 2021 hurricane season indicate that it will be an above average season and may once again start ahead of the official first day (1st June) in the Gulf of Mexico.  The 2020 season saw numerous facility evacuations, oil & gas production down time and, some structural damage to both fixed and floating facilities. As 1st June approaches, we should prepare for the worst-case scenarios which affects not only offshore production facilities but also onshore facilities and the ability of many people to return to work.

Storm preparation is a continuous process, focused on ensuring the safety of the people who work offshore, protecting the marine environment and securing critical energy infrastructure. Monitoring support during a weather event can be crucial to preparing and executing an informed weather response. After a severe weather event has passed, it may be necessary to investigate whether any damage has occurred; this may include a fixed wing aircraft fly by to inspect for visible damage, on site investigations (if possible) and, the analysis of relevant environmental and structural response data before allowing workers to return to offshore.

Join the EIC, event partner BMT, and the owner/operator community to discuss strategies around preparedness plans, and how new technology is playing a key role in damage assessment.
