About this event

Join the EIC and Department for International Trade (DIT) Mexico for the final stop on our Mexico Webinar Series journey, as we discuss fit-for-purpose “infrastructure” within the context of energy transition in Mexico.

Over the last weeks, the series has provided delegates a comprehensive market update on the upstream, midstream, downstream, renewables, power, and energy transition sectors in Mexico.  As the current energy sector dynamic shifts, vast opportunities for Mexico energy independence present themselves whilst at the same time setting the pace for the country to meet legally binding CO2 reduction targets against significantly growing energy demand.

Mexico can achieve these targets by taking full advantage of a kaleidoscope of energy transition and net-zero opportunities.  From diversifying to renewables to the “greening” of traditional oil and gas operations, further use of natural gas for power, upgrading of aging fossil fuel plants and the use of digitalization and remote operations, decommissioning, Operation & Maintenance, to achieving a net-zero footprint across the value chain; Mexico is open for business.

To realize its potential, Mexico has the opportunity to attract investment and know-how from the international energy sector. The UK energy supply chain is strategically placed to answer this call, providing innovative technology and services, and best practice. Furthermore, to achieve fit-for-purpose “infrastructure”, the entire value chain has the opportunity to develop the skills of the business workforce and government institutions to support Mexico’s transition to a low carbon economy.

Looking forward to COP26, a resilient supply chain will help to shape the future of energy in Mexico.
