About this event

About the event
On 7th October 1970 the future of the north east of Scotland changed forever. The discovery of the Forties Field, and its successful development, drove the region - and with it the UK - into the spotlight of a new energy revolution. Fifty years on we are facing another distinctive challenge, in the form of reducing our carbon footprint to net zero by 2050 or sooner. Once again the North Sea will play a pivotal role as the energy transition takes shape.
Engineering innovation, investment opportunities, and support for the UK supply chain will all be key. The challenges faced, knowledge gained and skill sets acquired over the past 50 years places the North Sea offshore oil and gas industry in pole position to lead the way in energy transition both nationally and globally.
Join us as we hear from Cllr Barney Crockett, Lord Provost of the City of Aberdeen talk about the ground breaking strides the city is taking in Energy Transition. We will also hear from Wood, Equinor, Chrysaor and OGTC on the future sustainable energy plans for the North Sea region.
