Overview
Vietnam has one of the fastest-growing, most vibrant economies in all of Asia. Over the past ten years, economic growth has been second only to China and GDP has been doubling every ten years since 1986. In the second quarter of 2010, Vietnam recorded GDP growth of 6.4%, almost back to the levels achieved before the global economic downturn. Vietnam is projected to be among the Top 20 economies in the world and top 10 in Asia by 2050 (PWC).
Since the country began its transition from central state control to a market-orientated economy in 1986, Vietnam has experienced sustained economic growth and is now classed as a middle-income country. Vietnam scored a growth rate of 7.1% in 2018, highest rate in 10 years. Vietnam’s economy growth is forecast at 6.5%p.a. for the next 3 years.

In other words, now is a great time for UK businesses to be considering Vietnamese markets.

This EIC LIVE E-vent, in collaboration with Department International Trade UK (DIT) Vietnam will discuss the market opportunities from developers and market leaders, provide insight on how to do business in Vietnam, and how the UK can offer its strong capabilities and expertise in renewable energy to help Vietnam achieve government targets. Vietnam’s government announced last month a dramatic reduction in its coal-fired power plant development plans, pivoting towards a greater focus on wind and solar.

Areas of Discussion
-What is the current update on the coronavirus situation in Vietnam?
-How is the market outlook on the Renewable Energy in Vietnam, especially Wind Energy?
-What are the current and future supply chain opportunities in the Renewable sector
-What are the latest government policies and targets across the renewable sector?
