Constellation is a Brazilian company with over four decades of continuous operation, specialising in offshore drilling solutions with technical excellence, safety and innovation. The company began operations in 1980 onshore and progressively expanded into deepwater and ultra-deepwater environments, becoming one of the leading offshore drilling companies in Brazil. Constellation currently owns and operates a fleet of offshore rigs and manages third-party assets, including the Tidal Action drillship and the Admarine 511 jack-up rig, making it the first company in Brazil to take on management contracts of this type.
The company continued to strengthen its position in Brazil throughout 2026. In April 2026, the company completed a renegotiation with Petrobras that secured approximately US$1.1bn in additional backlog, raising its total backlog by 67% to around US$2.8bn by 2030. The agreement added almost ten years of contract extensions across three ultra-deepwater rigs: the Brava Star drillship, extended to December 2030, and the semi-submersibles Gold Star and Alpha Star, extended to December 2028 and December 2030 respectively. Previously, the Amaralina Star, a sixth-generation ultra-deepwater drillship, began a new three-year contract with Petrobras in Q1 2026, worth approximately US$528m, covering frontier exploration areas such as the Equatorial Margin and the Pelotas Basin.
