About this event

The EIC is happy to announce the Breakfast in Rio: Offshore & Subsea Opportunities with Foresea, NOV and DOF.

Foresea
is a brazilian company specialising in the chartering and operation of drilling rigs for ultra-deepwater environments. A pioneer in the sector, it was the first private company in Brazil to operate a semi-submersible unit anchored at water depths exceeding 1,000m. Today, Foresea operates a fleet of five assets, comprising four drillships and one semi-submersible platform, all equipped with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) technology, achieving an average operational uptime of 99% in 2024.

In December 2024, the company announced a new three-year contract for the Norbe IX drillship with Petrobras, adding approximately US$417m to its backlog. More recently, in March 2026, Foresea was contracted by Petrobras to operate the ODN I drillship at the Mero field for a period of 1,443 days, with operations set to commence in early 2027 and an additional backlog of approximately US$465m.

NOV
is a global equipment and services company with over 150 years of experience, delivering technical expertise, advanced equipment and operational support to the energy industry across multiple region in the world. Operating across all areas of drilling and production, NOV serves a broad range of industries and capabilities, from well construction and offshore engineering to energy transition solutions such as geothermal, hydrogen and offshore wind. The company has maintained a significant presence in Brazil for over a decade, operating a subsea flexible pipe manufacturing facility at Porto do Açu, in the north of Rio de Janeiro state, with a current production capacity of approximately 220km of flexible pipe per year.

In March 2026, NOV announced a US$200m investment to roughly double the capacity of its subsea flexible pipe manufacturing facility at Porto do Açu, to be carried out over three years, with further additional capacity expected to come online in late 2029. The expansion also extends the company's operational footprint at the port, with a new contract running until 2047 adding 30,000m² to its existing 121,000m² area. The investment positions NOV to capture expected growth in offshore development activity and advance solutions for high-CO2 applications. This announcement was publicly supported by Petrobras, one of the world's largest consumer of subsea flexible pipe, underscoring NOV's long-standing partnership with the Brazilian operator.

DOF
is a Norwegian offshore company specialised in integrated subsea and marine services for the global offshore energy industry. Operating across three main service lines, namely subsea services, marine management and renewables, DOF offers inspection, maintenance and repair (IRM), light construction and floating wind solutions through a modern fleet of purpose-built offshore support vessels (OSVs) and subsea assets.

DOF has been significantly expanding its presence in Brazil in recent years. In September 2025, the company was awarded three subsea inspection contracts with Petrobras covering more than 4,000 planned inspections across the Santos, Campos and Espírito Santo basins, with a combined value of US$390m and operations set to begin in the first half of 2026. Most recently, in October 2025, the Skandi Chieftain and Skandi Olympia vessels were awarded four-year charters with Petrobras valued at approximately US$200m, with delivery expected in October 2026.
