About this event
The EIC is happy to announce the Breakfast in Rio: Onshore and Offshore O&G Opportunities with Origem Energia and BW Energy
Origem Energia, an independent company in the onshore sector, focuses on the areas of sustainability, energy reliability and competitive energy costs for the Brazilian economy.
The company currently operates 34 concessions in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo and Rio Grande do Norte. Its main assets are located in the Tucano Sul (BA) and Alagoas clusters, based among the country's main onshore basins, which have high exploration potential for non-associated gas. Influential in the Alagoas cluster, Origem Energia is developing an underground natural gas storage project in a depleted field, named Pilar.
Additionally, the company has also started its first extension well drilling campaign in the Pilar field, in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. This field is part of a cluster with four other concessions: Anambé, Arapaçu, Furado and Paru.
In 2025, the Origem Energia Group took over the operation of the Terminal Aquaviário de Maceió (TAMAC) MAC11A, in the Maceió Port (AL). With the acquisition, the company gains commercial flexibility to negotiate oil volumes and proactively optimise the scheduling of cargo shipments. The terminal is also connected to the road transport system and can transport petrol and other fuels.
BW Energy is an E&P company engaged in the acquisition, development, and production of oil and natural gas fields.
In Brazil, the company recently secured an extension of the production phase for the Golfinho licence, now set to run until 2042 instead of 2031, following ANP’s approval of its field development plan.
Building on this approval, BW Energy plans to invest US$1 bn in the exploration and production of its assets by 2031, with Golfinho and Camarupim receiving the majority of the funding.
As part of this strategy, two new wells will be drilled in the Golfinho field by 2028, doubling current output of 10,000 barrels per day and enabling the supply of 1.5 million m³/day of natural gas. Meanwhile, in Camarupim, gas will be tied into the FPSO Cidade de Vitória, extending production in Espírito Santo through to at least 2042.
